  • Praise in Motion

Matt's dancing in our church's youth dance ministry. It's headed by Miss Donna, my dear friend whom I met in dance three years ago, and who has become like a sister to me (and who, coincidentally, is exactly like me, only sane, and who, coincidentally, has the same birthday as DH...so many coinkidinks between me and Miss Donna...it's truly unusual).

    Anywho...on to the story.

So Donna, a few weeks ago, was stressing because there were no other adult mentors to help her with PIM. Now, I've been on a mission to keep some time to myself. To say no. To be minimalistic in my duties to those outside my family. But this is DANCE!  At CHURCH!  I prayed, but the no never could come out, so I said yes.

It's been such a blessing!  I adore these kids. I love the music. I dance. I teach. I measure for leotards and skirts and gauchos. And in a way, I'm bringing children's worship to the people in our community. What a blessing! It's amazing to watch these kids feel the love and glory God places in their bodies. It touches me how beautiful and innocent they are. I'm blessed to be working in this group.

See the new tag at the top of my blog? Think about that for a while!

  • Thursday dance

The boys had tap together today. Matt got mad at Mikey because Mikey was following him around. We finally had to tell Mikey to find his own place to hang out, and he agreed. We'll see how long THAT lasts!

Apparently they went to Miss Cassie's class to dance, too, last night. Mikey thought that was REALLY neat.

I had adult again last night. I don't know if I was just exhausted from working, or if I just wasn't in the swing of the class, but I was off all night. In fact, I woke up to my bad knee swollen and hurting this morning. NOT a good sign. We learned 2 new combos, and went through the combo we learned last week. All in all, it was a good class, and I was hot and sweaty, and hopefully danced off a few lbs.

Except...Darren and I followed class with our typical Thursday night date. Buffalo Wild Wings and a beer. LOL

  • Update!

Emily talked to her dance teachers and they came up with this schedule:

    The Ballets:

She is going to try moving up from Modern 3 to Modern 4. This will challenge her.
She is moving from ballet 5 to ballet 6 YAY!
She is staying in Intermediate Pointe

    The Fasts:

Because she is no longer in Ballet 5, she can take Cheer YAY!
She is staying in HH 3, which we expected because she just moved there last year.
She is going to stay in jazz 3 for now...with the opportunity to move to Jazz 4 after parade because it is a HUGE jump.
She is staying in Tap 2 another year. She finally has the steps down, but needs to find more comfort in them, and not think about them much. I'm also in Tap 2 with her, so that's kind of cool.

She is proud of herself for stating her case. I'm proud of her, too!

  • Dance again

I think I'm just going to make this my dance blog LOL

Em has dance tonight. She's a little discouraged because she's still in classes with much younger dancers. Many people comment on how they can't believe Em is still in that class, because she a) babysits half the kids and b) is a much better (experienced) dancer. So tonight, she is going to insist on talking to the ballet teacher and finding out which classes she really belongs in. All of her friends are in higher classes. At first, they were keeping her in the low class because she missed dancing 3 seasons because we couldn't get into a studio in Texas. Now, though, she's made up for that and is ready to progress.

    We'll see what happens!

In the meantime, tonight she has modern, ballet and pointe.

  • We had fun!

Mikey and Matt started fall tap tonight. They're learning the routine for the parade; it's Glamour!  They decided to put the boys, dressed to the nines, in the float. I offered Darren's Porsche.

Mikey started hip hop tonight. Apparently he LOVED it. Mandy said he can dance it for free. I thought that was incredibly nice.  He has hip hop the same time I have adult.

OH MY GOSH it was a workout today! Cassie didn't start us off easy at all!  We were all hot and sweaty by the end. We learned a neat little combo. I wonder which class will do it in recital this year LOL  She always seems to teach us combos that she uses in other routines. I guess if the old ladies can do it, so can the kids?

Monday, Emily starts. She'll have ballet, modern, and pointe. On Tuesday, Mat has Hip hop, them Emily has jazz, hip hop and she and I have tap. Yes, we're still in the same tap class together.

Starting Sunday, Matt's dancing in Praise in Motion at church. Donna asked me to help, so I'll be there, too!

Remember, when life plays music...just dance.
